This work was inspired by a word, Mother Nature. There is a Han-bok (Korean dress) placed on the wall. The size of Han-bok is quite large and can be only fitted by adults. I made this Korean dress to give the sense of a motherly figure. Mother is a very important figure in everyone’s lives, including mine. I overlapped the images of mountains and seas (the scene from Nature) which are always there and will be there to support us. However, we often forget how important nature is to us, as the presence of our mothers. Mother Nature also sacrifices itself, as our mothers do. I believe that the love of nature is similar to the love that we receive from our own mothers. Therefore I want to dedicate this work to all mothers out there who love and care for their children.
"Mother"(어머니)라는 작업은 mother nature라는 단어에서 영감을 얻었다. 말 그대로 여성(어머니)의 한복 위에 mother nature(대자연)의 영상(바다, 산)이 입혀진다. 자연과 어머니의 사랑은 무한한 사랑이라는 점에서 매우 닮아있다. 그리고 어머니의 존재는 나를 포함한 모든 이들에게 가장 소중하고 중요한 존재이다. 하지만 대부분 우리는 어머니가 얼마나 소중한지 잊고 살아간다. 마치 우리가 대자연이 우리에게 얼마나 소중한지에 대해 잊고 사는 것처럼. 왜냐하면, 어머니와 자연 모두 항상 우리를 위해 희생하고 있기 때문에 그들의 역할을 당연시하고 있지 않나 라는 생각이 든다. 이 작업을 이 세상에 모든 어머니에게 바치고 싶다.
