It is about my country, Korea, and myself as a Korean. There is a Han-bok (Korean dress) placed on the wall, which represents me, and the pattern of Korean Cloth (Pojagi) is projected on the surface of the Han-bok. Pojagi was only done by Women. Because in the past, women were not allowed to be artists, I believe this was the only way; Korean women could express their artistic talent and creative force. Therefore as a Korean woman artist, I could relate to and reflect on it and also wanted to embrace this in my work to show my respect and gratitude towards Korean women and artists.
정체성 시리즈는 여성으로서 예술가로서 한국인으로서 나의 정체성을 다루고 있다. '나 그리고 나 자신'이라는 작업은 한국인으로서의 여성으로서 나에 관한 작업이다. 벽 위에 걸려있는 한복은 나자신을 나타낸다. 그리고 한복 위에 보자기의 패턴이 영상으로 투영된다. 과거에 보자기를 디자인하고 만드는 것은 온전히 여성의 몫이었다. 과거 한국 여성들은 예술가가 될 수 없었기에 바느질을 통해 그들의 예술적 에너지와 재능을 분출해냈다. 그러므로 나는 현대 한국의 여성작가로서 과거 한국 여성들의 예술적 영감을 오늘날 미디어라는 매체를 통해 재해석하고, 한복을 실과 바늘 대신 종이와 풀을 이용하여 만들었다. 이 작품을 통해 한국 여성들에게 존경을 표하고 또한 그들에게서 받은 영감과 에너지를 작품 속에 담아냈다.
