"Inside out" mixed media,41x228x9cm (2017)

이 작업은 현대사회에서 가장 흔히 볼 수 있는 주거공간 중 하나인 아파트건물을 형상화한 것이다. 사각박스모양의 건축물로써, 그 안에는 수많은 가구들이 거주해 산다. 겉모습은 같지만, 안에 들어가보면 제각기 다른 모습으로 우리는 각자의 삶을 살아가고 있다. 이것이 진정한 우리의 풍경이라는 생각이 들었다. 주거공간이야말로 개인의 개성과 취향을 엿볼 수 있는 공간이다. 지관이라는 재료의 특성을 살려 앞 뒷면 모두에 이미지를 입히거나 그림을 그리고, 관객이 직접 원통을 돌려가며 이미지를 감상해볼 수 있다. 작가의 그림은 작가가 과거에 살았거나,현재 살고 있는 집,그리고 앞으로 살고 싶은 집들의 풍경을 그려 넣었다.

 

This work is the embodiment of one of the most common dwelling places of Korea today, the Apartment. Home is where we can fully be ourselves without being conscious of any public eyes. Also, it is where we can peek at our characters and indiviualities. However, the apartment looks all the same from the outside. Therefore by showing the interior and exterior of the apartment, I wanted to show the real sight of us. By making the best use of my main material, paper roll, both sides(front and back) have been covered with either photo images or drawings. The drawings of interiors are my previous home, my present home, and my future home.
