사람은 흙으로 와서 흙으로 돌아간다는 말이 있다. 일일이 흙으로 사람 형상을 빚은 후 불에 굽는 과정을 거치지 않고 야외에 설치되어 풍화 작용에 의해 형태가 사라지고 없어진다. 우리 인생사를 닮아있는 토우들은 사라지는 과정도 제각기 이다. 나는 작업을 통해 인간 중심적 사고가 아닌 자연, 비인간과의 공생에 중점을 두고 자기 소멸적 작업을 진행하게 되었다. 이같이 자연과 인간은 때려야 뗄 수 없는 관계라는 것을 이야기하고 싶었다. 흙은 부서지고 사리지는 동안 같은 곳에서 새로운 생명인 꽃을 피운다.  #공생 #소멸 #상실 #죽음 #이별 #삶 #자연 #인간 #비인간 #토우 #자기소멸적작업  #생태 #환경  #공생 #비인간 #인간 #지속가능한삶 #동등한관계 #설치작가 #설치  #신유물론 #객체지향존재론 #상호작용 #공생 #인간중심주의 #비인간과인간관계 #수평적공존 #공동체적존재(collective existence) #역지사지 #공감 능력 #동반자 #내부작(intra-action)

 

In the bible,  it says that human come from dirt and return to dirt. After carefully shaping human figures from clay one by one, I chose not to fire them in a kiln. Instead, the figures were installed outdoors, where their forms gradually disappeared through the process of weathering. These clay figures, which resemble the narratives of our own lives, each vanish in different ways, much like human existence itself.

Through this work, I pursue a self-erasing practice that shifts away from human-centered thinking and instead emphasizes coexistence with nature and non-human beings. I seek to speak about the inseparable relationship between humans and nature—one that cannot be divided or disentangled. As the clay breaks down and disappears, new life emerges from the same ground in the form of blooming flowers. In this cycle, loss and disappearance become conditions for regeneration.
