관객이 직접 지관을 돌려가며 퍼즐을 맞추듯 이미지를 조합해 나가는 방식으로 구성된다. 보는 이의 손을 통해 이미지가 완성되어 가는 과정은, 나 자신의 정체성을 찾아가는 여정과 맞닿아 있다. 어릴 적 나는 가부장적인 가정 안에서 늘 괴리감과 소외감을 느꼈고, ‘내가 이 집에 속한 존재가 맞는가?’라는 질문을 늘 품곤 했다. 가족이라는 둥지 속에서 이질적인 존재처럼 느껴졌다. 괴짜 딸이었던 나의 경험을 빗대어, ‘미운 오리’ 동화 속 오리와 거위를 표현한 작업이다.

 

The work is structured for viewers physically rotate the paper tubes, assembling the image as if doing a puzzle. As the image gradually changes by the viewer’s, the process parallels my own journey toward understanding and reconstructing my identity.

Growing up, I often felt a deep sense of dissonance and alienation within a patriarchal family structure, constantly questioning whether I truly belonged in that home. Within what was meant to be a familial nest, I experienced myself as an unfamiliar and misplaced. Drawing from my experience as an “odd” or unconventional daughter, this work references the figures of the duck and the goose from The Ugly Duckling, using them as metaphors for difference, exclusion, and the search for belonging.
