사람들은 고양이를 빗대어 9개의 목숨을 가졌다고 한다. 길고양이를 주제로 한 본 작업은 병뚜껑으로 9개의 고양이 그림자 실루엣을 만들었다. 고양이는 적록색 맹으로 녹색, 파란색, 노란색 계열은 구분이 가능하나 붉은색 계열은 전혀 구분하지 못한다. 녹색과 파란색 병뚜껑으로만 작업을 하고 조명 또한 녹색과 파랑만 사용하여 고양이들이 보는 세상을 상상해 보고자 했다.
People often say that cats have nine lives. This work, which takes stray cats as its subject, is composed of nine cat-shadow silhouettes created using bottle caps. Cats are red–green color blind; they are able to distinguish colors in the green, blue, and yellow spectrum, but cannot perceive red at all.
For this reason, the work is made exclusively with green and blue bottle caps, and the lighting is also limited to green and blue tones. Through this restricted palette, I sought to imagine and visualize the world as seen through the eyes of cats.
