불교에서는 아무리 작고 보잘것없는 생명체라도 함부로 해쳐서는 안 된다고 한다. 나는 생명의 존엄성에 대해 고민하고 작업으로 표현해왔다. 우리생활 속 말 못하는 길 고양이의 사진을 찍어서 직조 패턴에서 영감을 얻어 이미지를 해체하고 버려진 지관위에 사진을 입힌다. 버려진 두 마리의 고양이 이미지를 앞뒷면에 입히고 그 위에 채색하여 관객이 직접 지관을 돌려가면서 패턴을 바꿀 수 있다.

 

In Buddhism, even the smallest and most seemingly insignificant life is not to be harmed carelessly. I have long reflected on the sanctity of life and expressed these thoughts through my work. In this piece, I photograph voiceless stray cats encountered in everyday life, then deconstruct the images using patterns inspired by weaving. These fragmented images are applied onto discarded paper tubes.

Images of two abandoned cats are placed on the front and back surfaces of each tube and further painted over, allowing viewers to physically rotate the tubes and alter the patterns themselves. Through this participatory process, the work invites viewers to contemplate life, perception, and responsibility toward non-human beings.
