“Back from the Future” 은 영상 설치를 통해 관객의 기억 속에 추억 한 켠을 끄집어낸다. 누구나 어릴 적 가족과 유원지나 놀이공원으로 나들이한 추억을 간직하고 있다. 인천 송도에는 1937년 지금의 원도심에 문을 연 송도유원지가 자리 잡고 있었다. 약 74년이란 시간 동안 우리 곁에 있다 사라진 이곳은 시민들의 기억 속에만 존재한다. 작가는 과거 회상과 동시에 어릴 적의 기쁨과 즐거움을 상징하는 송도유원지에 있었던 놀이기구들(대관람차, 회전목마,,,)을 연상시키는 영상들을 3d 프로그램을 통해 재현했다. 이를 홀로그램 기법을 통해 공감각적으로 표현함으로써, 타임캡슐을 열어 시간 여행하듯 투명한 반구 속에 영상들은 관객의 아련한 추억 속으로 이끈다.

<Back from the Future> is a video installation that draws a fragment of nostalgia from the viewer’s memory. Almost everyone carries childhood memories of outings with family to amusement parks. In Incheon’s Songdo district, Songdo Amusement Park once stood, having opened in 1937 in what is now the old downtown area. For approximately 74 years, this place existed alongside the lives of citizens before disappearing, remaining today only in their memories.

Through acts of recollection, the artist reconstructs images inspired by amusement rides once found at Songdo Amusement Park—such as the Ferris wheel and carousel—symbols of childhood joy and delight. These images are recreated using 3D programs and presented through holographic techniques, engaging the senses simultaneously. Like opening a time capsule and traveling through time, the moving images within the transparent hemisphere guide viewers into their own tender and distant memories.
