​이한나의 설치작업은 감각의 주요기관인 눈[眼]을 불특정 사물에 접목함으로써 인간 중심적인 감각과 사유의 권위를 해체하는 뉘앙스가 돌올하다. 여기엔 모든 사물과 숨탄것들에도 감각적 기관이 숨어있고 그 눈들은 사람과는 또다른 육안(肉眼)은 물론 심안(心眼)을 지니고 있음을 환기시킨다. 관계성이라는 측면에서 작가의 특정 감각기관의 다른 사물에 대한 접목은 소외된 다른 존재의 마음에 가닿으려는 획기적인 기발한 소통의 일환으로 읽힌다.

이 작업은 작가가 우연히 길을 가다 아이들이 나무를 발로 차는것을 보고 이를 계기로 작업을 시작하게 되었다. 말을 못한다는 이유로 살아있는 생명체들을 화풀이용으로 사용하는 이들에게 자연에관심과 배려심을 가져보라는 의미에서 그리고 모든 생명체들이 우리눈엔 보이지 않지만 우리를 보고 느끼며 우리와 소통하고 있다는 것을 표현하고 싶어 나무에 눈을 달아주었다.

 

Lee Hanna’s installation work is marked by a striking nuance that dismantles the authority of anthropocentric perception and thought by grafting the eye—the primary organ of human sensation—onto non-specific objects. This gesture evokes the idea that all objects and living beings harbor hidden sensory organs, possessing not only a form of physical sight distinct from human vision, but also an inner or spiritual eye. From the perspective of relationality, the artist’s act of attaching a specific sensory organ to other entities can be read as an innovative and imaginative mode of communication—an attempt to reach the inner worlds of marginalized beings.

This work began when the artist happened to witness children kicking a tree as she walked by. This moment became the catalyst for the piece. In response to those who treat living beings as objects for venting frustration simply because they cannot speak, the artist sought to encourage a sense of care and attentiveness toward nature. By attaching eyes to the tree, she wished to express that all living beings—though invisible to our eyes—are watching us, sensing us, and engaging in communication with us.
